FAQ

Q: When are submissions open?
A: They are open on a rolling basis! This means that although submissions will never “close,” there may be loose submission deadlines if you want to be published in the next issue. We will let you know of these deadlines as we become aware of them, but we encourage you not to wait for a deadline!

Q: How will submissions be chosen for publication?
A: We may not be able to accept every submission, but the editors will thoroughly read each piece and let you know whether or not your piece has been chosen.

Q: Just how much does my poem or art have to be “about” chickens? Can I mention them in passing?
A: The theme of chickens is open to interpretation, but your piece may stand a better chance if chickens are a main point.

Q: Can I use a pseudonym in my submission?
A: Yes!

Q: What will publication look like?
A: The final publication will be a PDF available here that you can print out at home, send to your grandma, post on the bulletin board of your local coffee shop, or do whatever with.

Q: Can I print and distribute the zine myself?
A: Yes please! Spread the love of chickens far and wide!

Q: I’ve submitted something but I haven’t heard back and it’s been a few months!
A: Because we operate on a rolling submission timeline and because we don’t get very many submissions, it often takes us several months before we get enough submissions to create a zine. We also don’t contact those who submit until a few weeks before publication. If you’re getting impatient, tell all your friends to submit! You can also always reach out to our email and ask us how it’s going.

Q. You published something of mine that I would like to change or remove.
A. Because of the nature of our publication (PDF printable booklet), it is difficult to edit and doubly difficult to remove works. It is our policy that we do not edit the zines after publication.

Q: I have a question that wasn’t answered here!
A: Feel free to email us at coop@coopzine.com and we’ll try to get back to you as soon as we can!
