I’m sure you’ve heard the story
Of Chicken Licken and the sky—
An acorn hit her head
And she thought the end was nigh.
‘The sky is falling down!’
She squawked with some insistence,
Her pals all rallied round and
Off they went to seek assistance.
The Fox then caught a whiff
Of panic in the air,
Offered them assurance
Of safety in his lair.
We’ve heard how that one ends
And no-one shed a tear
For the feathered little critters
Led blindly by their fear.
But Chicken Licken didn’t die
And here’s the reason why:
She didn’t really think
That doom was in the sky.
She had made a deal with Fox
To whip up mass hysteria
And help him lead those critters
To his stomach’s soft interior.
We thought they all got eaten,
A version none disputes,
But all’s not what it seems—
Her and Fox were in cahoots.
